As you may know, I spend a lot of my spare time in the shops. I hold my hands up. I’m obsessed with fashion. Clothes, shoes, bags, the whole shebang. And as if by luck, without sounding big headed, I always seem to be the one that friends and colleagues ask for advice when they’re wanting to put an outfit together but aren’t too sure how to nail it. I even got a text at 10pm one night before Christmas asking what colour eye should be put with a red dress! I love picking items out for other people but not as much as I love finding gorgeous new bits for me, soz.
I’ve noticed on my last few shopping trips that a golden yellow, sometimes mustard, colour is appearing in most stores. It’s a bold colour. It’s brave. It definitely screams confidence. It’s bound to be one of those shades that makes you feel happy and I presume others would look at someone in yellow as being approachable too.
I thought I’d share some of my favourite yellow pieces that I’ve spotted. Here are 7 that I’ve picked out to share:
1. Karen Millen Leather Jacket
It’s bright and vivid and as well as adding excitement to a monochrome outfit, it’s still smart. But I can also see this paired brilliantly with a white slogan tee and light wash denim in the Summer.
I really love the shape of the floaty sleeve and the cinched in, knot detail around the front. This dress looks a lot more expensive than what is it and I think it’s because of the unusual design. Depending on how the material feels, this may just be an addition to my Spring Summer work wardrobe. I’m sure people would think it’s designer.
3. River Island Cropped Blouse
I’ve seen similar cami versions of this blouse in Topshop that I’d like so this ruffle cuff sleeved version is also a favourite. The v-neck is flattering and I think the little buttons down the front are so cute. Fab with a pair if black trou but again, put it with white or blue denim for a more casual look. Bonus that it shows off your belt of choice too!
Who doesn’t love a slouchy jumper? We can inject the colour into our outfits sooner rather than later with this beauty. I like how it goes longer at the back and could be easily tucked in at the front if you wanted. Zara do great knitwear.
Ever since I bought a fuchsia pink pair like these for work, I’ve always liked the style and have looked out for more. I’d wear them with a pointed heel and blouse tucked in to show off the waist belt detail.
6. Accessories
If you’re not a fan of yellow clothing but want to inject a bit of sunshine in to your outfit, try one of these accessories. The earrings I have in black and they always get great comments. The yellow version will surely get more attention. This handbag is a decent size for weekends and will sit nicely on the hip for all to see when worn as a cross-body style.
